Iberogast is a liquid that is supposed to act soothingly on the gastrointestinal tract. It is recommended for functional and mobility-related gastrointestinal disorders such as stomach pain, bloating, cramping, nausea, and heartburn.
It consists of the following components:
- Iberis amara (Bitter Loop Flower)
- Angelica root
- Camomile flowers
- Caraway fruit
- Milk thistle fruit
- Melissa leaves
- Peppermint leaves
It is also important to note that the drug contains 31% vol. of alcohol.
It can be taken beginning at 3 years of age, dose recommendations should be considered.
As already mentioned, Iberogast acts on the gastrointestinal tract. It is intended to soothe the stomach nerves, relax the stomach muscles, regulate the gastric motions, inhibit acid formation and protect the gastric mucosa.
The question now is: Can it also cure gastritis?
My experience with Iberogast
I have taken the highest dosage of Iberogast, which is allowed and this not for no reason. The highest permitted dosage from an age of 13 years and up is 3 x 20 drops mixed in a bit of fluid per day, taken before or with meals.
NOTE: This tip is important. The drops must be taken, for the best results, in a lukewarm fluid. This is quite simply the temperature at which the contents of the stomach are heated to enable decomposition. Therefore do not neglect this step!
Many people notice a calming effect immediately, but after 20-30 minutes at the latest.
I’ve noticed the difference that Iberogast has made relatively quickly, about after 5 minutes. It feels like a soothing film around the mucous membrane, which makes everything silky and supple.
The stomach burns were only slightly less irritating, but it helped well against cramps and heartburn. Like with DigestZen, the essential oils in the mixture have a soothing effect on the overall health condition and I have always been somewhat drowsy after taking it.
The feeling of fullness was also dampened, however, the lack of appetite remained due to the burning stomach pain.
An acute gastritis can be dampened with Iberogast, if not even cured. In any case, it supports the healing process immensely and should be the first means of choice for gastrointestinal discomfort.
Chronic gastritis, however, has mostly deeper causes, which must be investigated. Even so, Iberogast can bring much relief.
However, it is not suitable as a long-term solution, since it’s still too expensive, even if one buys a bigger bottle of 100ml. This bottle lasts (at the highest dosage) about 3 weeks.
Above all, however, I would recommend, if it is not immediately needed, to buy this at an online pharmacy. You can be lucky and find a 100ml bottle for about 24€ instead of 38€. And this is decent money saving!
I found this great deal for you if you want to buy Iberogast in bulk: Iberogast (2x100ml)
If you still have unanswered questions, e.g. for how long I took Iberogast or if the healing effect dulled over time, please contact me and I’ll get back to you in more detail!
